You must continually upgrade your information of the industry via the magazines dedicated to bridal and planning of parties and by networking among the leading members of the community. Your efforts must revolve around not only on following the traditional ways of the society but also add some novel aspect so that the bride and her family will be happy that their wedding will be unique and the best so far.

To this end, be prepared to work irregular hours. Bridal consultants and wedding planners are often known to work 12-14 hours at a stretch. Most productive days are weekends and evenings compensated by relaxation during the week. All this seems worthwhile when you remember that your profit is approximately 10 percent of the wedding cost.

When you look around, you find that most wedding planners have found an entry into the industry through bridal attire or interior decoration, or floral designing, etc. You can also study in this field. No doubt, you will be advised by experts to do a little bit of market research to see who else is offering such expertise in the area and explore whether you can build such a business over time. You can get guidance from the Association of Bridal Consultants which is the official nationwide organization of the industry of wedding planning. Such organizations can provide a lot of information on your chosen career in this field.

From Hollywood to Bollywood

December 30th, 2010

Well the USA has always been viewed as the Promised Land, as the land of unlimited opportunities where one can achieve anything. In general it is still true and currently we consider the USA to be the most powerful country in the world. The USA has a huge industrial base, massive landmass and Hollywood dominates the entertainment sector of the world. So can someone actually shake the USA down from its top place?

Probably not at the moment, but, in my opinion, there are some countries whose potential is somewhat bigger than that of the USA. One of such countries is India. Same as the USA it has a large territory and thus vast amounts of valuable natural resources which fuel the industrial base. The industry level of India will be able to successfully compete with the one of the USA and India has a significant advantage over the USA – far greater and cheaper labor force. Though one might argue that India will never achieve the quality level of the USA, but in my opinion it is quite a safe bet that in time quantity will lead to quality. Currently the USA might have the highest overall technological advance level in the world, but again the key word is currently. Let just look at the IT sphere in India. India has the necessary know-how to successfully compete in the world market and as education is highly valued in India, the overall knowledge level will steadily rise. If there is a thing in which India will not surpass the USA then it is the level of life quality. Lets be real a country with such a population will never be able to achieve total equality, but I would be very glad if they proved me wrong. But just because of this fact the labour costs are low and India can compete in the world market.

Does India need Hollywood? Why should they if they have their own Bollywood. Sure they do not have a John Wayne or an Audrey Hepburn, but they have their own superstars such as – Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Saif Ali Khan and many more. Bollywood movies have achieved a certain level of popularity in the UK and Germany and not to mention whole of Asia and their popularity is still rising. Hollywood may loose its monopoly in world entertainment in due time.

Do not get me wrong I have nothing against the USA. We just have to realize that there are some somewhat overlooked countries out there.
